What is Colonic Hydrotherapy?
Colonic Hydrotherapy (or Colonic irrigations) is a process that cleanses the colon, or large intestine - the final part of the body’s digestive tract, which is about five feet long.
A Colonic irrigation involves gently filling the colon with warmed filtered water, and then releasing this water from the body through tubing and then out through the clinic’s sewage system - no mess and no odour. All this is done with the client lying comfortably on a bed, draped with a towel.
To get the best results from this treatment it is recommended that you have a series of at least three or four treatments over the course of a week to ten days. It’s impossible to clean the entire colon in only one or two treatments. Occasionally, five, six or even more treatments may be required - it all depends on the state of the bowel, and what comes out. Christine will be able to advise you of this during your treatments.
Why Colonic Hydrotherapy?
The colon’s job is to absorb water and essential nutrients from the digested foods before it passes the indigestible wastes out of the body via the rectum.
Waste that accumulates in the colon (it can adhere to the colon wall or just get “stuck en route”) can become quite toxic. Toxins released from this waste can pass in to the bloodstream and circulate around the body. This may be the reason why people feel tired, lethargic, ill, weak, or just not “right”. Colonic Hydrotherapy may assist the body to eliminate these accumulated wastes and therefore eliminate a toxic “reservoir”. The result may lead to a healthier better functioning colon, and an individual who may be more energetic and “full of the joys of life”.
What does Colonic Hydrotherapy involve?
Please be assured that your personal dignity is maintained at all times. You will be in a private room with only the therapist (who remains present throughout the procedure).
A small tube is gently inserted into the rectum to which plastic tubing is attached. This tubing carries clean water into and waste out from the colon. All equipment is “single use”.
Each treatment session takes about 45 minutes. Many people find a colonic irrigation to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
Occasionally, some people may experience slight cramping type sensations within the bowel. This is quite normal, and is an indication that the bowel is about to release waste material.
Following a Colonic Hydrotherapy session you may eat and drink as normal.
